Just got back from LV this a.m. - feel very compelled to tell you to avoid the Las Vegas Club downtown - sorry if I offend but the place totally sucks!!! Not ONE good point to sell it on save for its location. No glasses in room (plastic cups instead that weigh .0008 grams), nazi-like "Aus-geepink" staff that are knocking on doors at 8:00 and look perplexed when you appear to be pissed off over intrusion, ice machines on every 5th fl, staffers that don't know their way around neighborhood, plus they microwave the prime rib in the Upper Deck rstrnt I believe, at least it tasted that way.
Don't get me started on the clientele here. WTF do they find these .... people?? Picture the lowest form of human at your SuperWalMart and that is what I saw here, by the cargo-boat load! Some of them looked like they were sired by Jabba the Hut and the Blob. Just strange to see so many in one place, honestly - total Twilight Zone experience. Needless to say they were slot players - no shock there.
One last important point, choose the Strip over downtown/old town. IMO downtown pales by comparison to the Strip in every way. Stay at a place on the strip or place off strip like the Orleans which is great.
Another recommend against is a place called the Artisan off the highway down near the Palace - not designed for sports-minded type.
